Silicon Carbide is a synthesized material which became one of the most important carbon materials in ceramic industry. Silicon Carbide has very high melting point and excellent wear resistance as well as high corrosion/oxidation resistance and creep resistance. It is widely used in abrasive components (Mechanical Seal, sand nozzle, pump, etc.), heat-resistive components (thermocouple tubes), corrosion-resistive components (Valves, semi-conductor devices).

Basically, two categories of Silicon Carbide products are offered; Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide and Self(Direct) Sintered Silicon Carbide. Generally, Self Sintered Silicon Carbide has excellent mechanical properties and chemical resistance. Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide, on the other hand, has excellent lubrication properties.

KSM manufactures both Reaction Bonded Silicon Carbide and Self Sintered Silicon Carbide and also develops materials fit for special customized application using Silicon Carbides.
